Ella | Birmingham Newborn Photographer
Little Ella was born a couple weeks ago and I had the privilege of spending her eighth morning with her. Isn’t this a beautiful family and a squeezable newborn?

Ella’s grandmother was in town to lend a hand. It is always encouraging to see new moms with great support.

Her nursery is just enchanting. Here are some shots that give you an idea of how lovely it is (and how loved this little girl is too!)

I love being an on-location photographer. I get to make babies sleep in new spots in homes all over the city. Isn’t this a great mirror?

Ella is just starting to check out her world, I loved this shot of her studying her mom’s face.

She may have tiny toes, but I think she’s got a big future in store.

Paisley | Birmingham Newborn Photography
It’s been a couple months since I’ve photographed a newborn, and I was excited for the chance to get back into the game. Poor Paisley had an upset stomach and her first fussy day while I was there, but we still managed to get some great shots.

Isn’t that nursery gorgeous?

I love looking through my newborn sessions and seeing the different personalities and feels from different families who I am privileged to visit in that first week or two of life. Congratulations, Brad and Lindsay on your beautiful baby girl!
Thomas | Birmingham Newborn Photography
Meet one of Birmingham’s newest babies, Thomas:

This one is especially for his grandfather, a big Red Sox fan.

What a beautiful family.

I love smiling newborns, absolutely love them.

Thomas comes from good Alabama stock. He’s going to be the envy of his elementary school for sure with that Saban-signed ball.
Truly, he was the most expressive baby I’ve photographed in a long time, and I had a great time hanging out at their house for this shoot, which made choosing for this preview difficult! So I put a few bonus shots below.
Avery | Birmingham Newborn Photography
I had the privilege of spending a few hours with four week old Avery and her parents, isn’t she super cute?

Mess happens, and impromptu baths result.

Her nursery is really cute!

Daddy – daughter moments are so sweet.

She fell asleep nursing, how peaceful!

Sweet G | Birmingham Newborn Photographer

What a yawn! When I arrived, little miss G was awake for the longest of her little life! I so enjoyed watching her bright eyes take things in from different perspectives.

Once she feel asleep, I had a lot of fun with her that way, too.

What a lovely family! I am so thrilled to have gotten a chance to document this huge change in their lives. Congratulations, y’all!

Baby H | Birmingham Newborn Photography
This is Baby H.

He was born almost two weeks ago now, exactly a week before our photo session.

…that was three weeks before his due date. His sweet grandmother had just landed in London when she heard her daughter had gone into labor, so she bought this Harrod’s bag in the airport and hopped the first plane back home to meet her grandson.

That’s what grandparents do. Wasn’t that calendar idea fun and creative? His mom is going to use it to take pictures on it each month for the first year to track his growth. She also bought him this hat on etsy.com.

What is cuter than a baby in a crocheted bear hat? A baby in his dad’s fishing net?

Certainly, sweet baby feet are in the running.

Baby H has two smart, devoted parents. I had to post this shot because I love the way his mom is looking at him, and you can also see the painting hanging over the crib in the background, which just looked awesome. Honestly, the whole nursery is fantastic.

It was clear to me that Baby H will be raised in a home with art, beauty, books, sports, fun and laughter, the way it ought to be.

I had such a great time getting to know the B family and am excited that H is a “grow with me” baby that I’ll get to photograph throughout the year. This shoot had so many fun and interesting sequences, I am sure you will see others here on the blog or on the website when I update next. I love when families run with my basic style and make the sessions their own!
Little Miss O | Hoover Newborn Photography
I had the privilege of meeting a truly adorable baby girl, her parents and her doting grandma. What a sweet baby girl! Choosing pictures for this preview was tough!

Don’t you love the way her parents were looking at her? Love, clearly visible in the midst of sleep deprivation and new responsibilities. The sweet framed embroidery was made by this baby’s great-grandmother for her mother when she was a newborn. Integrating meaningful mementos into pictures taken at your home or another place that is important to your family is the pinnacle of child and family photography to me. Thanks for allowing me to capture your lives!
Charlie | Birmingham Newborn Photographer
Photographing newborn babies is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.

Meet sweet Charlie.
When I arrived he was wide awake, and a little skeptical of the whole photographer business.

In spite of their best efforts, the vast majority of my newborn clients do fall asleep, even if under protest.

It was such a pleasure to meet you, W family! I am excited about the opportunity to watch Charlie grow this year.

Birth Announcements | Birmingham Newborn Photographer
I love shooting newborns: posing and playing and getting to cuddle babies so tiny and new to the world. So much so that I throw in a free announcement design for my clients. Here are two recent designs. Coincidentally, they are fairly similar, both of these moms have a classic style!

This was a standard 5×7 flat announcement.

This was a folded 5×7 announcement.

I had the chance to photograph the most precious little boy (and his big sister, too!) This is my last newborn of 2008, so I’m going to give a little longer preview because I miss shooting with all the processing and ordering and card making that’s been on my agenda of late!

I love the way she instinctively held his little hand to look at it.

I can’t believe he was jaundiced just a day or two before. He has the best color!

I hope you enjoyed your preview, Kelly! I am so glad to have had a chance to meet Charlie his first week and capture some of his sweet details. I’ll have the rest to you in a few days.
